just keep in mind, in most states, if you post a "Beware of Dog" sign, you are accepting responsibility if someone gets hurt by your dog on your property. Something to the effect of you recognize you have a "dangerous dog" and are warning everyone by putting up a "Beware of Dog" sign. It's all legal crap, but it does make you responsible.
I agree with Mike and VanCamp. My uncle was a circuit court judge, and he told me years ago that if you post "beware of dog" you are acknowledging you have a vicious dog. If you post nothing, you are not making the public aware of a possible threat. Sign on my back yard. "Keep out. The dogs are probably taking their beauty nap".
Three snarley little terriers aren't very pretty.

hey, where'd you find the "GSD on duty" signs? I like that, might have to get me some for my fence....after I rebuild it thanks to Lili (not sure yet, but probably).
Hello WE are all resposible for our dogs and what they do so go to your county court house are have your property posted no trespassing with the county just in case you ever have someone trespassing but also remember that some people just look for a reason to sue and yes if you post a beware sign you are saying my dog may bite but no trespassing means do not enter, some people out in this area put up signs saying trepassers will be shot and survivors will be shot again.
It's a shame when you think about it, that trying to be a responsible dog owner by posting a sign that says "BEWARE OF DOG" can actually be a liability.
A friend of the family had an excellent professionally trained rott as a guard dog for their jewelry store. When they were home the dog had free run of an enclosed backyard about 1/4 acre with a 6ft. chain link fence. Posted on the gates were Guard Dog on Duty signs and Beware of Dog signs. A meter reader still came into the backyard and was promptly pinned to the back brick wall of the house. The dog did not bite and was a silent worker, but she "held" the man there for 45 minutes before the owner came outside to do some gardening, saw his predicament and called the dog off.
A meter reader once told me that yes they take a chance when they go into a backyard with "Beware of Dog" signs. He said they yell before they enter and if no dog comes running they go in.
However, I have been in the backyard gardening with my dog when low and behold I surprise a meter reader. So, in essence, I believe when confronted he will respond with "I checked and there was no dog". But of course that's not the truth, and if bitten I am sure he would lodge a complaint with the city.
Caniche, are you trying to say people will LIE to cover their own stupidity or, heaven forbid, when testifying in court in support of their bodily injury claim? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
