Just wondering why whenever my male hears a siren he howls like an idiot. And last night my son was playing a keyboard and my male sat beside him and started howling. Then my female joined in and they howled for about ten minutes. The more the male was howling the more the female was howling and vice versa. It was hilarious actually, but I'm just wondering if anyone else's dogs do the same thing.
Ah howling! - have we got howling! Alot of sounds will set dogs to howl - sirens, church bells- we'll call this noise induced howling. Then there is the "I'm so lonely" howl of the dog all alone. Then there is the group-howl of togetherness and happiness of contented dogs- kind of "we are all together". I usually get two
good group howls per day, one in the morning after everybody has been watered and one in the evening after everybody has been fed. We get an anticipation howl when they see preparations to go train and run. Better howling than barking I figure. I like that husky-song ,music to my ears!
(except when they do the AM howl a little too early).

You are not alone in the howling department. Everyday at noon our town has a noon whistle that goes off for at least 1 min and our dog howls the whole time it is going off, don't matter if he is inside or outside he will do it. It is kinda funny cuz he has such a whimpy howl <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> .
