I have thought about this raw feeding thing a great deal. I cannot be there for every meal to supervise all my puppy's meals. I have no real pet stores in my area, but my wife works in another town. Across the street from where she works is a store that sells Innova. I have never heard of Innove until I read this forum. As far as dry dog foods go, is Innova good for my dog, or is it garbage like Eukanuba, Science Diet, Pro Plan, and all the others? If I feed Innova, what suppliments should I feed with it? Thanks for your input.

OK, What's the problem with SCIENCE DIET?? I have fed this for -5- yrs with little or no problem.
Don't go to a BARF DIET, it's out of the question.
I've tried other kibble brands have not liked the results, loose stool, too much stool, irregular pooing, poor appitite, dull coats.
Just curious as to why everyone loathes SCIENCE DIET or the Board members just not saying they feed it?
WHAT"S THE CONCERN OR PROBLEM ??

actually, a good food I have found, if BARF is not an option, is Eagle Pack Power Formula. Not a food I would feed to puppies, as the protein is really high, but is great for older dogs. Lots of fat too, so it helps out those high energy dogs (like ours) and it keeps the coats looking nice as well. It's not cheap at around $39 for a 40lb bag (delivered to our door it was right under $50), but it is one of the better kibbles that we've found. Eagle Pack also makes a similar (but lower protein) version for puppies, it just came out recently. We went back to BARF (much cheaper), but we had no complaints about the EP Power.

OK! so what's better? don't most kibble brands use RICE, I know that Rice is better on the digestive track of Humans as well as canines.
Help me with this, everytime I tried to change my male GSD to another food aways had stool and digestive tract problems.
I can feed him SCIENCE DIET SENSETIVE STOMACH and no problems.
There maybe better quality dog foods on the market.
I've tried Iamms, Eukanuba,Innova, with no better results.

I have a Labrador, and one very common health problem with the breed is allergies. Not every food is going to work for every dog. One of the breeders on another forum that I participate on has a great deal of information on food. Though a lot of her info is Labrador specific, the food info is applicable for the poor saps with other breeds. I'll post her link here, hoping that's OK. If not, the moderators can remove it, and anyone who would like the link can PM me.

Butch if it works for you then use it. I have also tried all the higher end kibble. For the first year of the dogs life it was mostly Innova puppy. then I heard about Wellness. One day I ran out of wellness and couldn't make it to the speacilty store that sold it. I picked up Dick van Patten Natural balance at PetCo. The dog really likes the taste, its duck and chicken. The way I look at it is if the dog is healthy then how are you going to judge which is better. My dog runs 5 miles a day but certainly isn't a canine athlete that I can judge her perforamnce by the food she eats. Some can I can't.
