The dog isn't taught to heel standing on the table. They teach the sit, down, stand from a treestump/table. The heeling is taught on the ground with mostly motivational methods. I like the tape.
I have the Compition heeling tape. It has some good ideas that are easily usable. For teaching the basics I would leave out the corrections on the prong.
I used a combination of principles from this tape and Purely Positive. The combination worked well for me. The Flinks obedience tape should be coming out soon. It may be better to wait for it if you are using his tecniques in other areas of training.

Terry,
The Flinks tapes/DVD's are new releases so if you are holding out for them to be on sale, you will be waiting a while. They are worth the money to buy them at full price so just do it............ <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

The tape is "motivational" alright. The method will work if applied correctly. I prefer a nice positive reinforcement foundation initially though. That way when aversives come into play, there will be little to no confusion.
The basic technique can be done with out corrections just fine. The way I used the information was to teach the positions on a table and then move to the heeling, all woith no corrections. What is probably going to be the biggest difference with Flinks is that it uses food rather than a ball/tug. If the dog isn't that motivated by food then it isn't going to work for you.
With my pup every time I let her out side she would try and climb on the table to work, then give me this very expectant look. If I didn''t move to help her she would wander off to do her buisness.
