Well I for some reason got myself caught up in the hype surrounding Bastin. Let my guard down and...just got back from the airport picking up my new pup. I don't know why...she swallowed that fly...oops.
Anyway, all indications so far tonight he is going to be fun. It might not be bad to add a little WG blood to my line from the fathers side. Works real well on the dams side. (Danu/Mara).
Anyone out there have any Bastin stories...good, bad, old, new...indifferent?
Thanks for the compliment. I think the main reason was a new challenge. Mainly as a learning experience. See what all the hype is about. Also, this breeding is a linebreeding on Fero and Askia. So, I think the main thing is it is a learning experience. I may end up selling him. At least thats what I told my wife...LOL
I'll be interested in seeing the replies. I'm not very knowledgeable about lines, but the line breeding on Fero seems to be a step away from the hard, strong dogs you have going for you. Course that's a discussion all on it's own, of which, I'm admittedly not qualified to discuss. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
we shall see. so far I likie the little guy. will get him out today and do more with him. it is a completely different type of attitude I can tell already. I dunno maybe I will keep him. Maybe I will sell him. I will reserve judgement though.
There sure is a different makeup...thats for sure.
What do you think are the main differences in this dog compared to dogs of the lines you already have? What qualities do you feel this dog would bring to a breeding program? Don't know squat about GSD lines but am curious.

Todd,
I saw Greg Bennett's puppy at the Nationals at 8 weeks old. Very social, pushy and fearless in that he approached anyone who walked by or was standing there.
Have not yet seen older pups out of Bastin - Nona Luth in GA has a year old male out of her female (Kimmi) and Bastin. I think that is one of the 1st litters out of him.
