I recently talked to a friend who's teenage daughter got her first period. (Wait, Wait, we're getting to the dog part) With this converstion the subject about females sharing a living space (ex. girls at colledge, or a family with multiple girls) that each of their cycles will eventually coincide- be at the same time, or atleast around the same time. The question that I pose is she used dogs as an example. She said that if I would have multiple bitches that they would do the same thing. Is this true? The second statement she made was that the lesser bitches would follow the alpha females cycles. Since I have only been around one or two human females and this seems to be true is it true for the dog world to; but most importantly do the other bitches in the pack follow not only her lead (as well as the alpha male) to this extent, but does dog biology follow human biology to the same degree? Just because a bitch is alpha do all other bitches become in tune with her clock? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Yes when one bitch comes into season the rest will soon follow.

Pack order- Since my girls never run together, all being Alpha bitch's would fight each other. They never established which one is the strongest, therefore never determine which one among the kennel would be the most dominant. So which bitch comes into season first is more a matter of pot luck.

I live in a multi-female home, both human and canine. Yes, eventually they will all either cycle together, or in tandem.

I moved here in May. My 'roomate's dog was in season... less than three weeks later my female was also in season.

This is the main reason why I don't get too concerned if breeder has more than one litter on the ground at a time. If they all come in together and you only breed one, you may come up with no puppies... sometimes nature goes your way and they all get pregnant...

I should add the two bitches in the previous post have never even so much as been in kennels next to each other. But when Katy was in season, Nyna would go out to P behind her and cover all her spots....

When my Lucy was in heat, both my neutered male AND my spayed female were mounting her....and she moved her tail to the side for both of them, too. Interestingly enough, it was after she finished her heat cycle that the aggression problem cropped up....
