Not sure if this is the right place to put this post.
Does anybody know where to read about (website or book) on how to interpret the "linebreeding" terminology. e.g. When you say a pup is 4-3 to some dog/bitch (or 2-2 , etc)?.
The numbers simply mean that is the generation in which that dog falls.. For example, my pup is linebred 3-4 on Fado v. Karthago. If you will look at the pedigree on the link below you will see Fado is present in the third generation on the sires side, and again in the fourth generation on the dams side of the pedigree. Pedigree
It would not be the same to say he was 4-3 as the order does tell who was where on which side. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Is that helpful? If not, I am sure I can find something else to explain it.
Thank You, it was very helpful.
So when there is more linebreeding (on lower generations), you can see something like 4-3-x-y, where x and y could be on other dogs on the pedigree?
Usually, if a dog appears more than once on a side, the "numbers" of the linebreeding will look something like...
3,4-4,5 Harro
This would mean that Harro is in Generations 3 & 4 on the sire's side and Generations 4 & 5 on the dam's side. Usually the dash (-) separates the sire & dam sides, and a comma (,) is used to separate which generations on one side or the other.
