Iwas wondering if any of the pros on this board can help me? My 6mo. old gsd barks almost all night long.I was thinking about buying a bark collar but don't know if it will ruin any of her drives twords schutzhund? Any info will be great! thank you Brandon
My 1 year old GSD has started barking all night long as well. I went to get him a bark collar, and the guy at the store told me I couldn't leave it on more than 8 hours. My nights are longer than 8 hours. Can anyone straighten me out about this. The barking is driving me nuts.
I think what he probably meant was that the collar shouldn't be left on for extended periods or continuous wear. If you leave them on for too long it can wear on the dogs neck too much and create a pressure sore or irritation. I haven't had any problem leaving it on overnight as long as you remove it in the am.
Originally posted by VanCamp Robert: I'd just try to buy one of the units that are smallish and more comfortable. Like the Dogtra Yapper Stopper. The Tri-tronics collar is small now too... get with the program there campster!
I wouldn't buy another Yapper Stopper unless I did have poodles. I bought two of them and even had Dogtra exchange one of them before I gave them away. The new Dogtra rechargables are much better and cost the same as the original.
The manufacturer told me that the original Yapper Stopper is meant for small dogs not working shepherds. That being said, they shouldn't be advertised on on working dog sites.
I have used them since they came onto the market and have had good results.
Plenty of dogs bark through them when there is really something up their talepipes, but everyday barking for no reason is eliminated. Really that is exactly what I want.
