I am in search of a sch prospective pup. I had read on another post to make sure a breeder has a return policy. Is this common? Any other advice that will help me "shop" for a breeder would be much appreciated
Most breeders will have guarantees for various health issues that will require you either return the dog or spay/neuter and get a replacement. Most will have a clause that if you can't keep the dog they will take it back, first option or help you rehome it.
Just want to change one little thing in Angela's statement and I will then FULLY agree with her...
"Most ethical breeders will have guarantees for various health issues that will require you either return the dog or spay/neuter and get a replacement and stand behind that promise...."
And that most times just applies to the US and North American. A lot of Euro breeders don't really offer "warranties" on their dogs, it's pretty much understood that pups are crap shoots.
I realized after I posted, I left that part out. Some breeders say they have guarantees, but when the trouble starts, you're out of luck. So yes ethical is the key word.
