just a question - my first time (on my own) raising a maturing intact male in an urban environment:
He's 16 months old, and out on walks, etc. when he comes across the scent of a female on the ground, the little pi**licker's brain just shuts down. He locks up, quivers, drools, his tongue hangs out and I have to drag him away or try really hard to distract him with something good (ball, etc.).
Heck, the first time he did it (at @ 1 yr old) I thought he was having a seizure. It took a couple of times for me to figure out was going on.
Is this typical, or is this an extreme reaction from an otherwise healthy, active teenage "boy"?
Shoot- I have seen 40 year-olds that do that! It is not just a young man's disease- just go to hooters sometime- they aren't all drooling over the wings!
Bitches in heat cause all kinds of strange behaviors to pop up- my usually sweet (brainwashed as my TD calls it) male bit me today- and I am quite sure that his tantrum had more to do with my female being in heat than it did me- too bad- life sucks- get over it!
Thank god the only way the bugger knows to bite is full-mouth.
Chris.... About a month ago I took my work dog to the pet store for some food and got a chuckle from seeing a guy with a female Sheltie that was wearing a diaper.
I don't even want to think about the details but when we got to the front of the line my Mal started licking a spot on the floor where the Sheltie was sitting. two seconds later, he's looking at me and his mouth is opening and closing about 1" a mile a minute.... this lasted for about 4 minutes untill I finally got him to the car.
Another officer that I train with had a female that went into her first hear cycle about 4 months ago.... his PSD crushed all the door handles in the bottom level of hs house. As my daughter (age 9) says, "Boy dogs are weird."
It's a male thingy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> --definitely not species specific! hehehehe! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
