I have a 2 yrs. 6 mo. old female dog which did not came in season yet. Is something wrong with her? I have her mother also with no problem. No swelling up, no blood I couldn't miss it.
The Vet sad to wait but I am wondering is it some medical problem with her or just late?
She never came in season yet. At least I could not see any swelling or blood, nothing. Her mother is 6.5 yrs old no problem she is in season every 6-8 mo.
Is she a GSD? Or one of the other breeds? Some of my greyhounds and th borzoi didn't come in season until afer 2, and only seasoned once a year. There were also some who seasoned very lightly, but the boys told us when they were in -- if nothing else did!
I'd think about taking her to a university clinic. Is there one close for you? For peace of mind if nothing else. But I'd also worry about breeding her even if she did come in.
We never had any problem with mother. They are G.Pointers. Last year we had our male but he died at 16 yrs old. At this moment I do not have males. Only 2 females. I don't plan to breed her, not yet anyway but it is strange that she did not come in heat yet. She is acting like a puppy all the way. I was thinking maybe some rank behavor in the "pack" that she is not maturing or something medicali wrong with her. My Vet sad: wait. Very little chance that I missed it. I don't have the help of the male but still I am pure shure that she never came in heat yet. Do you know what are the medical terms which could causing this? I would like to resourche more in the internet.
I wondered about her aunts just in case she inherited fertility problems through her father.
There can be so many causes for infertility, and I'm not a vet, and only casually acquainted with your breed, but I'd surely suspect a physical cause before a social one (rank behaviour within pack).
I would insist on a vet check. There are so many things that can cause this and I would not want to speculate what is. She might be having what is called slilent heats with no outward signs, but by this age I would think you would have seen something. Do your self a favor and give your self peice of mind and take her in for an ultra sound of her uterus. Not cheap but well worth the money <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
