My wife recently had a carpet cleaning company over to our home. They used some sort of light to locate pet urine stains (we have 2 dogs & 2 cats) as they are not discernible to the naked eye. Then they charged her an arm and a leg to supposedly remove them for us.
Do any of you know what kind of light is needed for this and what can be used to completey remove the urine mark?
It's my understanding that they don't so much remove them as make them invisible to a black light. I'm in the military and this is a constant issue in military family housing when you have to move out of a house. If the housing office finds a spot in a room they make you pay to have the whole room re-carpeted. My wife works in the legal office and they deal with claims against a military member for re-carpeting. From what she has told me, the cleaning company adds some sort of chemical to the spot to make it blend in with the rest of the carpeting when it's black lighted.
Nature's Miracle, a pet stainodor remover is sold in good quality pet stores in this area, and they will lend you a black light if you ask. The product makers offer a money back guarantee, and I'm told the trick is to follow the instructions exactly and let it dry right down the the underlay of carpets and do it again. By mail order try petedge.com Removes blood and stuff too.
I Have Used Natures Miracle and found to be much less effective than the product called Petrotech. I compared both products and threw out my natures miracle!
