I recently came across a website for a kennel and I was very impressed! The name of the kennel is Vom Shreknhaus near Pittsburgh, PA. Does anybody have an experience with this kennel?I am interested in purchasing a GSD to be member of my family as a pet who is great with kids, some obedience and hopefully will protect the family by appearing intimidating for intruders and by barking!

Not one titled dog in the whole group. Not even a lowly show title . Plus, no talk about pedigrees. Doesn't mean the dogs are no good, but definately unproven at ANYTHING. I'd pass on this one, IMHO!

Sorry, nobody here will have any experience with that kennel, well...because it's a low grade puppymill that most of us wouldn't associate with.
Waaaay over-priced pet quality dogs. You should be paying *half* of that asking price for dogs of this low quaility.
Some of their breeding stock is long-haired, or dangerously close to it, and that's considered a serious fault. Apparently it doesn't stop them from breeding the dog though.
German Shepherds with nominal pedigree's such as these shouldn't be selling for more then $300 or $400 dollars max, and that's being generous.
By the way, that "advanced obedience certificate" was given to some pet owner who attended a class. Whoop dee do...
Ask to see some offical AKC obedience awards - and I highly doubt that any of their dogs have those.
I wouldn't even consider them as a source for a dog, period.

You'all are way to nice.
This is exactly the type of "breeder" to avoid like the plague.
What exactly looked good to you John?

This lady ran accross me a few months ago due to the fact that she is about 50 miles away. She wanted to breed one of her bitches to my black male ..... NOT!!
Typical of life long farmers in the area, the dogs are done as an easy cash income. The owner is an older lady with grandchildren. Farmers forever, 4H, quarter horses etc all their lives. Some German breeder she found on the internet told her OUR system was better than the SV because we could just breed and not have to bother with titles etc.
I tried to explain why the titles are a good thing but of course, the German woman who sold her the first breeding stock she had gave her a solid rationale for doing what she does. And this is a retired farmer who has a pretty easy cash income from dogs...lots easier to deal with than 100 head of dairy cows!
This is one of about 4 or 5 big puppy mills in this area - there are 3 at least doing working and DDR-czech dogs...and lots of these pups end up in local shelters - I get calls to help rescue them on a pretty regular basis. Have a pure black female that we pulled from a kill shelter a few months ago right now!

he was "Hooters" friendly though <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
