we nationals was fun. I got to see and hang out with some good friends, Karmen, Stacey, Ronni, Bernard,Don,Ron,Lisa and Jill great to see you all.
Heh I got a question I was talking to the guy from royal canin he was doing a good job selling me on the breed specifict food for shepherds. was wondering if anyone uses it the bag says I should be feeding about 9 cups a day to my guy and 7 to my female. the rep said about 1 cup for every 30lbs.
let me know if the food is that good and the amount is that little that would be good. Much easier to travel with kibble than raw
1 cup for every 30 lbs. and a 9 cups a day..... your dog weighs 270 lbs.????
My pet food guy recommended Royal Canin to me back when my wife’s Rott was a puppy…. When I got my work dog I put him on R.C. as well. I have been quite happy with it. I tired both the Large Breed and GSD Specific with my work dog as he has a bit of a sensitive stomach, and have not really noticed a difference between the two formulas.
All my GSDs are on rc and are doing very well on it. I too did feed raw but found it to hard to travel. I use the GSD formula for my 3 shepherds and I have my old golden on the mature formula. They all are doing great on it.
I must be the only guy that doesn't care for this brand of food. I got several bags of it for free a few years ago, and my dogs hated it - they literally were starving themselves rather than eat that food. My dogs looked like a pack of attack greyhounds.
Plus, the main company of Royal Canin is in France, and I refuse to knowingly buy anything from that country ever again.
I switched to a few and settled on RC I love it. My dogs stopped itching(they were on several premium brands) Stools are firmer, and my picky male digs in like there is no tomorrow. He is filling out nicely on it.
`Ive been on all sorts - ended up on eukanuba to my dismay - simply because my dogs loved it - i had my dougts about it which have been confirmed, skin problems - not sure if directly related but its definalty a coincedence - fridge isnt big enough for raw. Trianers at my club use royal canin - through a rep - its hard to get hold of in the uk - relativley unknown. so the next bags we buy will be rc. trainers dogs have been on for a year and cant praise it enough. They also look in mint condition.

The only thing needed for evil to exist is for good men to stand by and do nothing!!!
One thing to remember is that every GSD is not going to do well on this food. I know dogs that have almost been killed by high priced food and did very well on bargan hound. Its like humans and food. Take mile for example. Some people get sick from it but its heathy for most. When people ask me what to feed there dogs I say what does your dog do well on. my GSDs are on RC shep fromula but my rotti is on eukanuba. my boxer was on raw. Every dog is diferent.
Will what do you feed your mals? I will be getting one in the next year. Any ideas?
