Does any one know breeders of the larger style GSD's? Im talking about the kind like Leerburgs old stud Rambo. I really dont like the smaller flimse kind. I know DDR's are supposed to be larger but they all seem to have just more weight on them. Im looking for height and weight along with working/personal protecton abiltiy.
You talking about dogs being purposely bred larger than the standard for GSD's? Or just always on the large side?
I know that I personally would stay in the standard but choose to own a male if I wanted a larger GSD. It always makes me worry a bit when breeders go outside the standard and start focusing on just one particular factor (such a size). But that's me. And there are probably some breeders of out of standard GSD's that there are fans of that will help you.

Your not setting yourself up for good comments here De'Ondre.
You don't need a big GSD just so that it can serve the purpose of working/personal protection. Sometimes thats the problem w/ breeders...is they breed for large size...this is where all kinds of health problems start, darn, look at the AKC American GSD...nothing but problems (though I'm sure there are nice ones out there).
My dog is 85lbs, well reasonable sized for a GSD. The other Police Dog that used to be on my department was 65lbs, and he's the last dog I want to take a hit from. Doesn't matter how big the dog is, it matters how well balanced, socialable, trainablity, etc the dog is. Don't get yourself caught up in larger the better...your just setting yourself up for disaster.

Rambo is not a large dog, maybe 85 pounds and 65 centimeters tall. He is the correct is size for a working German Shepherd Dog. He has nice bone and substance but certainly not what I would consider an extremely large dog.
oh, ok Ed...
I wasn't referring to Rambo. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I was referring to the the comment: "of the larger style GSD's" & "looking for height and weight...".
What I've seen, this weight is what is most common, so it thru me for a loop when reading Larger German Shepherd.
Anyway...
