IMO, it didn't benefit the 'working dogs' at all. Quite the opposite. This show aired tonight, right after the OLN aired it's one hour: The ultimate dog: Behind the Bite.
Definitely not in the best interests of working dogs in general. Just more breeds to add to the BSL lists across NA.
It will definitely make many politicians and journalists very happy.
I watched this last night also. I think Curly (the third dog) was a Presa Canario (a guess based on size and appearance.) While I did think the show was quite entertaining, I must also wonder what type of reputation this is creating for the dogs. While they did not mention the breeds of the dogs, I am sure there are people out there who can guess what they were. The Presa Canario already has a horrible reputation. Most people remember this breed of dog as the one who killed the female in the hallway of her apartment building in California a few years back.
"Tis better to stay quite and thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt."

What is the OLN?
I thought I had missed the announcement of the breeds, because in general I don't usually watch that show...we were channel surfing and stopped when we saw the dogs! I did however make a remark to my husband that many people probably didn't know that the solid black GSD was a GSD, since most only know black and tan.
I bet you probably ar right about Curlybeing a Pres Canario....yeah, that wouldn't make anyone who is against the breed change their minds...that dog was downright massive, and definately scary!!
No one ever said life was supposed to be easy, life is what you make of it!!
I also saw the show last night while channel surfing & stoped to watch. I agree that it doesn't help much for the general publics view of this for those of us who have personal dogs doing bitework. I'm not sure that you really could tell that the black dog was a GSD. It was not easy to tell, unless you know that they can be black in color & they didn't show very much of him. He kinda blended into the background on most of the shots of him. Plus, I think that everyone was more focused on Curley & the other dog. That seemed to be of more interest, so I don't think that the GSD was noticed that much at all. The dogs did seem to be well trained on the out. What a nuty show. Eating worms & animal guts etc & jumping off of buildings. Gotta wonder about the mentality of the general public. LOL

The OLN is the Outdoor Life Network, their format includes many hunting and fishing features. They have recently taken over the broadcasts for the Pro Bullriding Association. I am enjoying watching athletes that really earn their "bucks".
I can take the dog bites, but when they bring out the worms and other unmentionalbe animal parts to eat I'm afraid I would have to bid everyone farewell. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Though a little out from the date of the show, I did see it and believe that curly closely resembles my type of dog being a Cane Corso. Very similiar to the other breed mentioned. I actually thought that the women mauled in California was taken down by a Corso but with the temperments being so stable in the Corso I had a hard time believing it.
