I was wondering if any of you have watched this show and what are your impressions. On the surface it seems to me to be a pretty good show. It seems the behaviorist, Cesar (something), has quick progress with the dogs and their owners. I feel like I've learned from his show. Although I presume we only see the success stories and we only see the first encounter or so. I wonder how the dogs are doing several months and 6 months later. But overall I've enjoyed the show. Any thoughts?

I also enjoy it. He seems to have a better idea about dogs than the Pet Psychic anyway.
With any dog training, what the dogs are like 5-6 months later is entirely dependant on how well the owners listen and apply what the've learned. I'd like to see him "socialize" a dog like Emma or Fetz before I'm REALLY impressed.

I love this show! I did read an article that some of the dogs continue to have issues. The main reason being that they still live with the same people who allowed them to develop their behaviours in the first place. But I love the perspective he tries to give the people. The animals must be allowed to be dogs- even small dogs need to be walked, they all need exercise, and all need leadership and discipline. In a world where people regularyly talk about their "furbabies" this is a really valuable message.

The trainers name is Cesar Milan - this is a great show. Cindy and I TIVO it I like his personality and he is a good trainer. It is really entertaining.
I like the fact that he is not afriad to choke out a dominant aggressive dog - like the aggressive pitbull that took a nap on TV - all you saw was the begining of the fight and then the dog laying on the gound taking a nap with Cesar loosening the nylon choke collar as the dog wakes up.
Anyone who can manage a pack of dogs like he has at his training facility is no rookie. This guy knows what he is doing.
There is no question that some of these dogs reverted back to their earlier days - how could they not? Some of these people are the empitamy of CLULESS DUMMIES !!!!

I enjoy that show. I like the one where there was the neurotic GSD who chased his tail and paced. It was simply a matter of a dog without a job. Ceaser recognized this and put a pack on the dog. You could immediatly see the difference. The dog was "working".

Thanks Charlie. Usually at that time I'm watching reruns of Seinfeld. I'll have to remember to flip the channel on Mondays.

Haven't posted in awhile, but saw this thread.
I love Cesar Millan. From what *little* I know about handling dogs, this guy has it together.
But I agree that we only get to see the brief success stories. I would love to see an episode on really screwed up dogs, such as that pit that Ed stated Cesar choked out--I saw that one, and would like more on those kinds of dogs. Most of the dogs shown are just overly dominant that thier owners have no clue on how to handle.
Don't know if I'll get in trouble for this, but Millan has a book coming out--you can get it on Amazon, but it's not available until JULY! I ordered one though, so when I get it, I'll fill everyone in.
*Millan also made me feel better when he has difficulty with freaking OE Bulldogges!!!! I have a "problem child" myself!!!*

last night i saw an episode and i'm confused: cesar was called to a couple's house to get their rescued beagle to stop racing around the yard and the house all the time. the first thing he did was to have the lady take the beagle for a walk. the beagle looked scared of everything, she had to drag the poor dog down the street. cesar said to her: you are the alpha, it is his job to follow you and you must teach him that. then the garbage truck came down the street and the dog panicked. cesar said don't correct the dog or say anything, just let him panic. he then brought the dog back to the house, and told the lady that when the garbage truck comes, go to the kitchen with the dog, put him on a leash, and stay there. the dog panicked just like on the street, but could not run around the house because he was on leash. then cesar went into the couple's backyard, where they have a treadmill. he said that the cure for this anxious behavior is to put the dog on the treadmill, while you hold the leash, and let him exercise. do this for 6 months. that was it...i'm confused because his solution has two parts: one, he is training the dog to simply run to the kitchen and panic while he's on leash when the garbage truck comes. two, the dog has been placed on a treadmill simply to tire him out, to make him stop his racing around the yard. but the real cause of his problem, his fear of noises or whatever it is, has been ignored. i'm inexperienced at dog training; can anyone explain cesar's solution?
