I am going to share this so other people may not make the same mistake. I have a 6 year old GSD (Killian) that has fought with allergies most of his life. After a lot of experimenting with foods, treat, allegy shots, etc, we finally got him to where his coat has been great for over a year (other than a little dry skin here and there.) We feed Solid Gold Wolf King food and limit extra treats to cheese, tuna, and venison when available. On Christmas, we took Killian with us to my in-laws for dinner. There were about 20 people there that were not family members-all adults. While I was helping prepare dinner, apparantly, many people there decided that Killian was too skinny, or looked hungry or something and decided to feed him whatever they felt like. When I saw someone feed him a cheese curl, I explained to them about his allegies, etc. There response was that they had saw other people feeding him and thought it was o.k. Maybe it is just me, but I would never go to someone elses house and feed their dog, cat, or whatever unless speciffically asked to do so. Now, for the last 4 days Killian has been scratching and chewing and has bald spots to show for it. The irratation seems to be calming finally. The moral of this is that you have to watch adults around your dog just as much as you do kids. You can be sure that this will not happen again.
