Ok, I have a question for the pedigree guru's.
I'm planning a breeding this week and I need to be able to send or refer people someplace to see the pedigree's of Fetz and the bitch.
So, my question is....is there a site that actually lists all registered GSD's online? Or does the owner need to fill in the data and submit it?
And how are recently acquired titles, such as a SchH I title added to the dogs pedigree at an online site?
I'm hoping I don't have to type in 30ish Czech sounding names....with my crummy typing skills. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
the gunnarsholt's online database is free, so people i know look at that site first to check a pedigree. however, anyone can type a pedigree in there with titles and i have heard of at least one case where titles and pedigrees were made up. if you enter your dogs on that database, whatever you enter will be on the site, and i believe you must update your dog's titles yourself.
i have also heard of problems with former soviet-bloc countries keeping faulty records, or no records at all, after all when you're dealing with working dogs, i don't think they were so concerned with pedigrees, only working ability.
I used both of those, pedigree database to find info on my dogs and sitstay to build the pedigree. One of my females is from a czech import but it didn't have info on him or the dam. I only got it for the grandparents and back. It took about an hour to make and you'll probably have to look at it several times to make sure the names and titles appear on the lines the correct way. They were both very helpful though. I've seen a few people just have a photo shop do it for them and then print one onto a nice sheet of paper. Then they scan it onto their computer and post it on their website or send it as an
e-mail to anyone that's interested.
For a Czech dog, you are pretty much wasting your time on pedigree database. I would just use the sit-stay.com pedigree generator and you can email it to yourself and then email it to who ever or, you can get the html code and paste it into a website if you have access to one.
In order to register a czech dog on pedigree database, you will likley have to start putting dogs in that are in the 7th generation or so before it will even start taking any of them. Needless to say this becomes a project for the very bored. If you just put in sire and dam you will keep getting parents unknown. This same thing will happen for every dern dog in the pedigree.
Someone went to all the trouble for my A litter. I was amazed, it wasn't me. LOL.. I tried entering my bitch and gave up from frustration. Her breeder was bored one day and did it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
