Saw him a month or so ago. Much better looking dog than his photos. Masculine and well balanced physically. They did a little work on the field with him, and our helper was really impressed with him - as well he should be, as the dog is a BSP winner. Noticed that quite a few BSP dogs in the last couple years are from Ernst daughters.
His ZW rose as he produced more litters though, and is about 94? 95?
Chris Wild in Michigan has had 2 litters from him, the last born in the last few weeks.
Ernst is owned by a member of my new club (just moved back to town and joined after membership in other clubs.) If you like, I will try to get any pertinent info on him.
We've had the pleasure of spending quite a bit of time with Ernst, as well as his owner Mark and his new handler Jim. As Lee said, he's much better looking than the photos, and shows great drive and power in the work. My husband has caught him a few times, and the dog hits like a truck and has a crushing grip. Tracking is excellent as well. His obedience was extremely flat when he was first brought over her, but through some motivational training and bonding with his new handler, he is now showing great attitude in the obedience as well.
I've got several pics of Ernst on my website. Ernst Pics
As was mentioned, we've also had 2 litters out of Ernst. The second is only 4 weeks old, so a bit young to evaluate.
The first litter is now 13 months old and we couldn't be happier with what we have seen in these pups. We kept back a male for ourselves, and another male is training in SchH in our club, so I get to see these two regularly.
Overall good structure, if a bit long, and some are on the large side. Very strong drives, but clearheaded and able to cap and control the drive. Unflappable nerve and very social temperaments at this age. All 3 males are currently training in SchH, and are showing a lot of potential. Excellent natural tracking, very good attitude and focus in obedience, tons of drive in protection. Strong barking, and excellent grips. A couple of the pups have not been x-rayed yet, but all 4 who have been x-rayed prelimed Good and the rest should be getting x-rayed soon.
Overall I think Ernst is an excellent opportunity for breeders in this country and I'd like to see more people use him.
thanks for the post's. I'm getting a pup from germany out of Adelegg kennel. The Mother of my pup has Ernst as the Father, A friend who is into the sport mentioned Ernst was pulled from protection in 3 BIG trials - the 2000 WUSV World Championship, 2001 BSP and the 2002 LGA (Bavaria). I can't seem to confirm or deny that info, either way they deal is done and I'm getting the pup. From what I can tell from the net, he seems like a nice dog. What do you all think of Ellute V.D. Mohnweise? He is the father. Seems like a lot of germans are breeding to him. Eros his brother is more well known from last at the Worlds. Again, thanks for the info.
