Really dumb question. Has anyone ever had a dog that was inept at drinking water? Seriously. I've got a permanent wet floor in a 3' radius all around his water pail, and dribbles of water radiating from the kitchen to wherever I happened to be at the time, where he typically burried his head in my lap, leaving a well-placed wet spot on my pants.
I had hoped he'd grow out of it, but noooo. Though he did stop drinking with his front paws in the dish. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Is this a GSD thing? I mean jeez, I can't go in the kitchen without putting shoes on. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
I have a 13 year old malamute who leaves a 5-6' radius of water and always has....good luck. The worst is when you slip and fall in it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Thanks alot Angela and Michele, you've just ruined my fantasy, lol <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> My almost 2 yr. GSD
has gotten a little better than what he was- a
complete and total slob. Not just water, food too.
Take a mouthful and trail it around the room.
So I guess I'll just accept it now. Great.
Well, I guess I'll have to find comfort that others are suffering the same. Maybe Ed will do a video on teaching our dogs good table manners. I'm sure that's on his list.
I use a 5 quart stainless pot for a water bowl and a tray that once covered the kids leggo table. It helps a lot. the food bowl is a cast iron fry pan. so far that's the only things that held up.
I wound up getting a deep ceramic bowl. I fill only the bottom two or three inches. That way, when the dog laps the water, the extra splashes to the side of the bowl and stays in. I still get some dribbles when they raise their heads. A regular towel underneath the bowl takes care of that.

I use one of those new plastic Folgers coffe containers. I fill their water up and keep the full bowl in he tub. Most of it is kept in the tub. Some of it is dribbled and wiped upon me as they walk by, but it's now not as bad. Even the cats climb in there and get a drink.
LOL! Yes, your not alone, heck, we're happy when we can find a dry spot! I have never known a dog drink so sloppy as mine! I wonder if she actually ingests water!
A bucket, with a few inches of water at the bottom. Helps, a little..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
