I am looking at a male dog to stud to my female and the male is a police dog who has never been able to make a tie with the female( not mine) he has had only one chance before, and he made an outside tie. i dont know if there is anything that might help him get it right.
would love some input
thank you everyone.

He's only been attempted to be bred once before? Just because he's a male doesn't mean they're automatically stud dogs. It takes them practice sometimes too. I have one female that I have to make sure she is at a higher elevation than the male in order for them to tie. If you have an experienced breeder, they should know what to do. You can always ai if needed.
Yes they only tried to breed one time and they dont realy know why he did not make it.I would like to do AI but i dont know if it is a good idea for her first breeding. He is a great dog that i was hoping would produce his work, drive, temperment, and great color in a litter and i have 4 people that would like him and her together. Is there anything that we can do to help him find the spot and keep it in there.
sorry for being so frank.
thanks
malinda
some rubber gloves and some hand eye coordination?
Never beofore bred but the mechanics are the same so if he cant hit the spot then maybe a helping hand is needed?
Have the female examined by a vet to make sure there aren't any constrictures (not sure of the right term). IF there is, no matter how experienced the male he won't be able to make a tie...
I have seen this in several females over the last few years..
Thank you all
I have taken my bitch to have a pre breeding exam. they said that she was fine.I dont know what all happened when they tried to do it last time with that other dog but i heard that she was not standing still so they where holding her. but since it did not work it does not matter i guess. I dont know if i should help hold her in a standing position and then have the males owner help him find where he needs to be.I just dont know if i should try and help and then try and let them do it natural or what. My vet said maybe AI then try to get a natural and then hope that one takes??
