I know it's not too bad for a pup to be too friendly to everybody, but it seems mine is friendly to everyone BUT me. If she sees a stranger she'll immediately tuck her ears, wag her tail, and want to ask the person to play with her (gently) and kiss that person's face. But if she greets me she usually just perks up, not wagging or anything, and proceeds to make a chew rag out of me. The only time she will give me the 'tucked in ears, tail wagging' look is if I scold her.
She's only 11 weeks old. Should I be worried? In my experience my puppies have always greeted me, loved me, etc., but for some reason she's not showing that (except to other people). I'm the one who feeds her, plays with her, pets her, she's in the crate most of the time I'm not with her, I take her to places, and yet other people are still more interesting. I wouldn't think she's dominant, she knows her place, if I call her and bend down she comes running to me quickly and if I request something off her she does it. She knows 'No' perfectly.
Think she'll get over this? I'm extremely jealous. And this is NOT my first pup. (Though it is my first Border Collie).
What she is doing with strangers is insecurity on her part, I didn't say fear, just insecurity. Which at this age is normal until they totally figure people out. Her wagging vigorously of the tail is telling the greeted person or other dog, that she doesn't have aggressive intentions, also the same for the ears. Sounds like your pup is right where she should be to me, secure with you and has the courage enough to approach people, but at the same time, not totally secure with strangers yet.
Hmmm, that makes a LOT of sense. She did do similar things to me when I first met her. She also does the same things to the cats (although I think she's also deceiving them? She was chasing them while doing that pose). Thanks. This helped a lot. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
