..while chasing a ball?? It seems that whenever my mal is chasing a ball and is making his biggest efforts his rear hackles very temporarily. It's definitely not fear, I'm hoping it's not an injury, it may be just very high arousal. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen this. It's just the rear for some reason. Thanks!
Chris,
Buttercup does the same thing - yep, it's arousal, and since we have litter mates there, not to worry my friend!

Thanks everyone! I was a little concerned because I did not really notice this before much at all. He does not do it when he sees the ball nor while regularly chasing it. It's only when he just misses the ball and has to really dig into the ground to get that ball that just got away from him. Then his rear and only his rear hackels up, and by the time he brings the ball back to me his rear hackels settle down. I'm assuming that chasing the ball after the miss would be his biggest effort/highest arousal point.
Will, have you x-rayed Buttercup yet? (prelim?) I will be x-raying Quincy at the end of the month. just curious on that. Maybe we can exchange videos in the future. I'd love to see Buttercup's temperament.
Brigita, Nicole LOVES the pup. She's a really nice dog. We will be having fun with her. When the pup sees me she comes running up to me and slams herself against me to greet. I guess I would have to be somewhat partial to her with all the love she shows me. LOL Makes me think her entries for the bite will be super fast.
Chris,
Prelims done, came out good/ excellent as per my vet.
And the pics that you have of Quincy on your site are really nice - he's a handsome boy.
That's great to know about the hips. Bad hips in mals are not very common in comparison to others so I'm not too worried. Sometimes curiousity can bug you though, you know.
Thanks for the compliments on Quincy. I do like him a whole lot. Share some Buttercup pics!! Email me or something.
Glad to hear it Chris! Any questions just call or email any time! Give my best to Nicole and have FUN with the pup!!!
Chris,
I Think it's amazing how much littermates can be alike. Neeka (same litter) is ROUGH! When I take her outside to "take a break" she knows she can come back inside when she's done, so after she does her business she runs full speed towards the door and plows right into it face first!!!! I close the front door behind me but out of habit I never lock the door in place it's just shut closed. She weighs 19lbs and the door about 90 or more and she hits it like she has bumpers on her face or something. When I first saw her do it I ran up to her to say good girl and pet her and make sure she wasn't like, "OH! what the hell was that", and from then on never want to charge into anything. $h&%, she looked at me like what are you doing I'm ok. She has ran into the entertainment center full throttle, the coffee table, dog crates and she thinks it's fun! Damn, whacked out Fontaine dogs (LMAO!) Needless to say I'm no longer worried about her having a phobia of running into something for play (later on a decoy perhaps) it's getting the "she's been dropped on her head to many times syndrome" I'm worried about.
~CHRIS DUHON
PS: I have put up two small videos of her imprinting on members photos, it's the links.
That's great to hear Chris. I will share this info with Nicole (the woman who owns your female's sister). I saw the videos and also forwarded them to Nicole. She looks great!
