100% morons in action.
I notice that some of the listed breeders are also breeding white GSD's...whata surprise.
*sigh*...crooks will bred *anything* to make a buck, and stupid people will buy them.
A twist on "King/Shiloh" breeding that was so popular? The common theme is still about looks and big bones and very little about proven working ability. I mean, come on a 172lb GSD? That's old-world breeding?
Someone posted a link from a unversity that pretty much proves that GSDs are a breed almost furthest removed geneticaly from canis lupis while malamutes, huskies shar pais etc are the closest. I lost that link, if any body can remember it, it would be most appreciated
Dennis, here's a link to about half a dozen studies on canis lupis vs. canis familiaris, http://www.idir.net/~wolf2dog/wayne1.htm , but there still isn't enough mitochondrial DNA evidence to say which breed is the closest to the wolf. Happy reading
Do you guys remember a place called LRRP K9? They were big into wolf/Gsd crosses. Is it just me or is there an arragance to these people who think they can improve a breed? Just wondering what you guys think.
Ohhh Jeff!
Yep, the LRRP K9 folks from South Carolina were big advertisers in Soldier of Fortune and various survival magazines during the survivalist craze in the 1980's.
They now bred "executive protection dogs" and charge 15k to 25k for them. Oh course they don't compete in any dog sport or any other proving venues for dogs, but that sure won't stop them from charging an arm and a leg to the uninformed consumer who fall for slick advertising. Let the buyer beware....
And they'll be jumping on the next new bandwagon when something profitable pops up to fool the dummies, count on it.
Wow...I actually took more time and visited all the linked kennels listed. I don't know if I should be pissed or ill. Actually....I'm both.
Let's see, all of those so-called breeders are breeding waaay out of standard GSD's, plus most of them are long haired or "plush coated" as those scam artists like to call them. A few of the kennels are also breeding white GSD's.
And then...they sell them for up to $2500!! What is wrong with people?? Are there *that* many dumb people around who want to own these pieces of fur covered cr*p?!?
Some people should not be allowed to own dogs, and these idiots belong to that group.

like you said Will, some people will do anything to make a buck and a lot of 'uneducated' people will pay top bucks for something they think aint what it is!
what on earth will they think of next?
