Sometimes you have to Protect them from themselves. Minidng my own business I was talking to former student and his family while greeting them at the park. I stopped and all 3 dogs sit as we talked, he had both kids with him they are now teenagers. He is tells me how well my dogs are trained and to what extent.
Just 5 minutes ago these teenagers in group of males and female had passed us (me & dogs), and a female asked could she pat them I told her no, thats not a good idea.
Now my back turned to this; All of a sudden my Male GSD stands and I hear him bark. I turn to see this same tall teenage girl trying to pet him. She offers her had he smell it and as she tries to pat he shakes his head, barks and nudges toward her. I give the back and when he does sit command. I reprimand her stating "Didn't tell you no. Please don't do that again, I'm responcible for your and my dogs saftey". She asking why is it he won't let her pet him? I said No.
Unlike the people with smaller or Lab-like dogs, I don't trust that my dogs is gonna like everybody they come in contact with. On a paved path I'll give way and step off so that they feel safer and aren't passing right by the on coming walkers. I wish that I was given the same courtsey but No, one little bulldog almost snapped my sweatshirt top dangling from my shoulder! Another peewee almost snapped my heel, until I turned and stomped my foot, which sent it off screaming and running back to its now distrubed owner.
What do you do, when they won't let U, Protect them from themselves? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Puddin could cost them cabbage.
