damn, that makes me want to go train right now I wish I could the music in the background wherever I go though
Wow!! These dogs and the training they have received is amazing. Not trying to start a fight but I am curious, do you think many GSDs could handle this type of pressure from the decoys?
Yes, I think quality bred and properly raised GSD could and can do ring sports. But breeder's and owner's, have to put more work in. From what I've read and seen, people that compete in ring start imprinting their pups at or about 5 to 6 weeks old. Continue to acclimate their pups to more and more pressure and distraction while building their prey and defense drives as they mature.
A good GSD could do Ring Sport with no problem, but the sport does reward agile dogs, hence Mal's will have an advantage.
One of the puppies from my GSD litter is headed to a Ring Sport trainer in an other country specifically as a future Ring Sport dog - it'll be interesting to see how it works out.
the sport does reward agile dogs, hence Mal's will have an advantage.
My french ring research has shown, the difference in Malinois bred for FR. The french lines are smaller more agile, while the belgian line mals bred for BR are more of your 85-90lbs Mals because they don't need to be as agile in BR (though they are still agile, obviously not like a 55-65lbs mal). So I would say like Will it's really a size thing. Though the GSD I'v seen doing FR were great, but if you have a goliath giant GSD that weights 125lbs, you might want to have him conditioned like a 15rd heavy weight championship boxing match. I think Will's dog prefers FR over schutzhund, lets just say, if your a schutzhund helper, I'd wear more than scratch pants, and as we say in the deep south, ain't dat righ Will?
