First let me say Robert, your going to have to deal with this one, but I have to hear responses from this.
Has anyone ever seen or heard of a 4month old 1 and a 1/2ft tall puppy clearing out of a 10x10x6 kennel. How many would call Bull****?? I mean, taking 1-2 steps and going verticle over the 6ft wall of the kennel.....

Chris, it's not unheard of! We had this one female in our B litter when they were 12wks old would take 2 steps and jump to the top of the gate on a 5ft kennel then jump down like it was nothing. At 4.5mos old, she would hit her head on the roof of a 6ft tall kennel from a stand still jump.

Before he messed something up in his back from jumping off of our garage to many times, DUH!, my JRT could land on top of a 6ft stone wall from a sitting start, 2ft in front of the wall. Since then, he's limited to only about 4 1/2-5ft when he wants in at the sliding glass door. He can still clear a standard 42" chainlink fence. Hope he starts taking it easy soon. He's almost 9 now.
For those wondering why the hell he was jumping off the garage roof. He used to climb up the rose trellis when squirrels would take shortcuts across the roof.
Love those min-mals!

I knew a 10 week old pit bull mix rescue puppy that would climb a 4 foot fence like it was a ladder! It was amazing to watch!Needless to say, the home she was placed in spent a large amount of time trying to learn how to stay one step ahead of that little girl

Ok, didn't want to say this was my pup, LOL! I would have probably called BS. This was the first time I had seen this from a pup this young. She saw a sleeve on the ground and while I was working another dog, she was going crazy and leaped the 6ft kennel wall and landed on her side, knocking the wind out of her (I could hear it) scrambled to her feet and sprinted to the otherside of the yard, and hit the grounded sleeve. I saw sleeve, and feet rolling head over heel, then she got to her feet with it still in her mouth and ran around it held high and proud. Like I should have expected anything less from a Fontain d'Or pup.

Wow! Chris, that sure sounds like BS, but if you say it, I will believe it. That is impressive!! Try to get it on film next time. I would be interested in seeing that!

LOL I can totally picture that, I love it when my dog has that look, kinda prancing around with this huge object in his mouth keeping his head up high. Sounds like quite the pup you have there.

Curtis,
As much as that is something I myself would love to have on film and see, as I was in disbelief, I don't think I want to see my 1 and a 1/2ft tall pup fall from 6ft on her rib cage again, LOL!!
That'll be the last time she has an opportunity to show me those acrobatic skills for another 9months or so, LOL!!

Chris, I don't know how well these things work but there is a product called "Zones" that innotek makes( http://www.innotek.net/Zonesjumppage.shtml ). They look like smoke detectors and act like portable invisible fences. You can put one.. halfway up the kennel run so your pup gets some automatic stims when she reaches a certain point of the kennel. Maybe do this a few times a day while you are there for a couple of hours and then put her in a crate when you cannot check up on her until she absolutely won't challenge the run.
ORRRR, you can put her in the kennel. Put an ecollar on her. Watch her from inside the house so she does not associate the stimulation with you. Set the collar on a low medium stim and when she just puts her paws on the fencing, stimulate her on continous until the paws come off. Once she's experienced this a handful of times, penalize HARD and set the collar HIGH and stim her for putting her paws on the kennel. Make her think the kennel run did it. It's best to use high so that she won't want to challenge it ever again. She migh panic and pace back and forth to relieve a little anxiety. Do not take her out of the kennel at this time. Take her out when she's nice and calm and over the whole situation.
It's that or no kennel, or risk of injury. Or tie her up with a chain inside the kennel but make sure there's nothing she can get caught on.
