Hi, have a question... When one is "working" a pup on the tug and you lift it off it's feet in the air, can one damage the teeth like this, overshot or undershot? Ive seen some pup films where they do this, i'm just concerned about damaging teeth. Any thought?
Thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
I think the answer is not to do this while the pup is teething. I don't know if the teeth themselves could be damaged but the pup's drive could be.
I do this myself to my pup (9 and 1/2 months old) and I have steadily increased the intensity of the tugging. Now I can lift him off the ground when were tugging - usually with no problems. Hope this helps....

The bite (over/under) is a genetic trait, unless the pup breaks his jaw or something like that. I too have seen videos of pups hanging in the air, but as mentioned if pup hurts himself while teething it may decrease his drive for the rag or tug later on. Ed mentions to work up the dog in prey drive during this age. I think....
