Once you go Czech you never go back...... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
There are some outstanding Czech dogs at stud in the U.S. now ( I give Kevin and CJ a big nod there ), and I still personally like the Grim lines for what I need in a dog. And I'm *real* serious, as most of you might have gotten a hint of in my posts or at the various seminars...
And the Pike and Mink lines should be closely examined also for those seeking a serious work dog with PPD potential.
Wait........we were talking about GSD's, right? < grin >

Ok, I wasn't going to ask but sheer nosiness compels me...<throws on flame-retardant trenchcoat>
What is it about Malinoids that makes you think you can't 'deal' with one? A high drive dog is a high drive dog, isn't it? I don't mean to sound either ignorant or like a smart a$$, so forgive me if the question comes across the wrong way. I'm just curious about why so many 'working dog' people shy away from Mals. I am sharing an apartment now with an 8 year old border collie and a 2 year old Mal- the bc is French Ring trained and the Mal has been started in Schutzhund. At the moment both of them are snoozing contentedly in the kitchen, and my furniture is intact. I honestly have to say that I can't see what the difference is between 'working' Malinois and 'working' GSDs- or border collies or hunting Labs, for that matter...? I am open to enlightenment, if it seems like I am oversimplifying.
Well since you have on your flame retardent trench coat <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I would say that since your mal is "only" doing shutzhund maybe thats why it's laying around. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> Sorry couldn't resist!
Malinois are what you "let" them be.. this of course excludes the useless ones, who are just useless and there is nothing you can do about it LOL!
I chose to "let" mine be really retarded and "free" (for want of a better word)and because of that I could not let them in my house, not only would they be bouncing off the walls and making me dizzy, but I like my belongings in one piece.. (and my cats in one piece!) These dogs are so tuned into their handlers that they can be molded into what you want them to be. Granted, there are one or two that will be much harder work.. but then you are going to find that in any breed.

Yup....there were two or three people I expected to hear from about that and you were one of them, Jeff!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I just thought that seeing as how he came to me already started in SchH I wouldn't rock the boat, so to speak. And a tiny little perverted part of me actually LIKES to get up at the crack of dawn on my days off and go tracking....a very tiny little part.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
I see the crack of dawn everyday as well. Then I yawn and go to bed! I say ROCK THE BOAT!!!! There is nothing so lame to me as the idea that Mals are doing Shutzhund. I guess my campaign for more ringsport isn't bringing enthusiasts by the thousands.....Darn, have to keep trying.
