My GSDs nose is always (well not always as in 24/7) dripping a clear fluid. At first i thought he was drooling until i took a closer look. For example, i just took him for a walk and while he was sniffing around some rocks i saw a few drops fall from his nose. Sometimes when he is lying next to me a few drops hit my hand. This isn`t something that just started beause now that i think about it he has done that for probably as long as i had him (2 years). When i first got him from the rescue he was in really bad shape, he weight in at less then 50lb, had bad ear infections (mites). On the second day it was clear that more was wrong with him and the vet said that he had a very bad case of kennel cough. His nose was like a faucet. Green discharge was running from his nose constantly. He went on medication for 2 weeks and he seemed to be fine. 1 week later it was back with a vengeance. He got more medication and seemed to finally recover after 2 more weeks. Could this have anything to do with that? Should i take him to the vet or am i worrying about nothing? Thanks in advance for all the help.
My dog has this problem. She has severe allergies, and the resulting ear and sinus infections. It's controlled well with benadryl and loratadine, but there is always some clear fluid, especially if it's hot or she's sniffing excitedly. The vet said not to worry unless the fluid develops color or becomes thick, so you should be fine.
