My 4.5 months pup,Matrix, has not been able to poop since yesterday morning. I feed him RAW 4 days in a row in a week. Yesterday was the first day of the 4 days cycle.
He went in the morning after his RAW LAMB breakfast and then my mom accidentally fed him about 2.5 pounds in the afternoon. Because he did not after his second meal, I did not feed him his dinner just gave him Vitamin E with some peanut butter.
This morning he asked for food so I gave him 1.35 pounds of beef. He went to the park with me. Played but still did not go. Now he seems little uncomfortable. I am going to call the VET to schedule an appointment sometimes this morning but wanted to get your opinion on it also.
I just gave him some papaya as it works for both situation (diarrhea and constipation)
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY HOME REMEDIES AND/ OR SUGGESTION FOR ME? ANY HOMEOPATHAIC MEDICNE I CAN GIVE HIM?
yeap the same pup. But it has been more than one week and told my breeder what it was, I don't think it was something that could be stuck. Anyways tomorrow I got the VET's appointment.
You are NOT giving him bone as well?
That could cause serious health problems.
There are plenty of articles on this site about feeding raw.
It is important to make sure the ratio of bone:meat is appropriate to simulate natural diet.
Hi: I would avoid the pepto. While it can be a wonderful stomach soother it IS CONSTIPATING! Your pup doesn't need any further hardening of his stools. Also be careful when giving Pepto as its chemical structure can act the same as aspirin in a dogs digestive system.
I would take the pup to the vet immediately. He could be suffering from any number of complications, some simple, others not so easy to fix. He could have ingested something, he could have twisted his intestine with all the food he received at one sitting, he could be suffering bloat, etc. No one can give you an answer but a vet. Home remedies won't suffice at this point.
Good luck. Hope the vet appt. goes well. If your pup turns out to be fine I'd recommend a teaspoon of well cooked and mashed yams 2-3 x's per day. Works well as it is a wonderful fiber additive. Don't give too much or he may well get very loose stools.
