For the past six months, on top of the puppy craziness, the aggression towards and eventual killing of my other pet, the allergies, I've been dealing with the fact that my pups breeder lied to me about AKC registration, withheld flaws with the sire and dam and still has not sent me registration papers and pedigrees.
All of this could be overlooked if my pup looked like a regular gsd, but it's complicated by the fact that he is a supposed working line, is not the typical b&t saddle back, and at 8 mos, his ears are still floppy like a lab.
The ears really drive me crazy. Other breeders told me that his ears are so thin it is unlikely that they will ever stand. Thee is little to no cartilage in his ears at all. After four months of taping and gluing, the ears have actually fallen. I've even seen mixes and mutts with shepherd in them and the ears were erect.
More people than not, ask me what he is mixed with. Even people at the gsd clud asked me if he was pure. I spent too much money for a puppy to have to convince people that he is pure. I've waited 15 years to be ina place where I could finally own a purebred gsd with papers and all. I don't have the room and can't afford to get another dog right now. The pup was intended for AKC obedience show, but he looks so much like a mutt, I couldn't even get a ILP in order to show him.
I've included two pictures in the picture bio section. I will title them Sabian 8mos for easy viewing. I would need to take pictures from the sides and front for the ILP. Please be brutally honest. If you saw this puppy on the streets, would you say he was a pure, quality GSD. Please, please, please, be honest. If you don't think he's pure please tell me.
Excuse me, does he bite? |

That's what I thought. Too bad I don't own a shotgun...
I'm going to small claims court. Would anyone be willing to give an expert opinion as a breeder?

Denise Williams,
That is the problem when u geting dogs with out Pedigrees.
thy mybe cheap but if you really want a pure GSD, u need Pedigrees.
Here at my country, ppl sell u GSD with out Pedigrees and tell u courage storys about the parents. then thy come to my kennel to ask me if thy got a pure GSD.
My dogs all have FCI Pedigrees and come from the TOP Bloodlines.
He really look like my Working BloodLine Dogs, but who can know. don't look at the ears thy can get up at age 10 month also. I don't like his BACK, look like a MASTIF back.
Good Luck

obviosuly I've been too nice. He told me there was a mistake with the papers and had to be sent back. I did call the registry and they confirmed his story. He was the last to go and I really wanted him. Sad to say, I'm paying for that mistake. Thanks for the advice.

While it's possible the dog is a pure bred GSD, it's a poorly bred one. The structure is poor, the front is very straight with overangulation on the pasterns, not much turn of stifle, little rear angulation, the back isn't correct. The puppy photos look like a GSD pup, the older ones look like a dog that was bred without the entire dog taken into consideration.

Hi Denise,
I would tend to agree with Mike and Sammy's position that the dog does look like a GSD (more so in the puupy photos) albeit a bad representation of one.
I see this far too often in a lot of different breeds and it is always a case of a puppy buyer not doing their homework and buying the dog on impulse or out of pity for the pup. Ultimately the buyer becomes frustrated over time and then wants to go after the breeder but the blame should be somewhere down the middle unless you were promised a rosegarden and you feel the dog was misrepresented.
You made no mention (or maybe I missed it) of your dog's temperament... Is he a nice dog for your family? If so I would count my blessings and make the most out of him that you can. Papers won't make a bad dog good and lack of them wouldn't make a great dog any less great - the only thing I can see lack of paers being aproblem for is if you need a reg'd dog for your purposes in training and competing.
Many people have started out where you are - and have learned a long the way to be more selective about where they get their puppies from (myself included) and to have a bigger list of criteria other than a nice website and breeder's claim that their dogs are all that.
Hope you enjoy your pup:-)
