My mix dog, Sutter, was his usual, active self yesterday and yesterday evening. We did get soaked by a sudden shower on our nightly walk, but nothing else out of the ordinary. This morning, his nose was hot and dry, he vomited (before he was fed and he wasn't fed last night) and has been very listless. Sutter usually follows me all over the house; today, he won't move from the living room. He did eat this morning and he went out and chewed on his bone in the back yard. He hasn't vomited again. As far as I know, he couldn't have gotten into any food he shouldn't have. Should I just let him rest and see how he is tomorrow or call a vet right away?
There have been cases of west Nile virus in this area. Does that affect dogs (I've only ever heard of horses with it)?
Well, I had to run my daughter to her volunteer work and when I returned in an hour, he was up, and his usual active self, appetite back, nose cold and wet and in my lap at every turn. I am keeping him in tonight though (no walk).
