Hi Everyone - not the best topic for my first post, but it is my biggest problem right now.
I have two puppies - one 7 1/2 month old purebred GSD male (Bosko) and one 5 month old GSD/Husky mix female (Ollie).
The female has been great and when she poops, she squats, finishes her business, then leaves.
The male has been the problem. Ever since day one that we got him, when he poops, he walks at the same time - usually in a semi-circle.
I am getting fed up with trying to clean up 14 tiny piles of poop when he goes just once.
Has anyone had similar problems - how can I get him to stand still when pooping?
Can you not just leash him and physically prevent him from moving?
I thought of that, but the leash would have to hold him in exactly one spot without allowing him to move in any direction. I don't really want to leave him in a stand position for hours waiting for him to poop and tell him good boy after that.
If the leash has any give at all, he will continue to walk while he poops

LoL! I'm not saying just stand in one place for hours until he poops. I mean that as soon as he squats and starts to poop, put tension on the leash so he cannot walk forward.

I tried that - it stops him from going forward, but then he goes sideways and turns. As soon as I try and get close to him to hold his shoulders, he stops.
That's funny because it must be a male shepherd thing. My females stand still no problem. Both male shepherds are "walking poopers". If you figure out how to make them stand still I would be very interested.
my dog did the same thing when he was a puppy. eventually he grew out of it (for the most part).
and while he kinda sorta goes to the bathroom on command, i'd be really impressed if someone comes up with a training technique to get their dog to aim...
