I am going to be travelling in July From NYC to Maryland. Almost 5 hours give and take. Where can I go to find the details on it? Is it illigal to travel without a CRATE? Can I get this information from a NYC police Department?
What should I keep apart from ice cube bags, food, water and the usual?
I never see anyone crate their dogs around here in cars, I didn't think there were any state laws regarding this anywhere, but I could be wrong... I can't even fit a crate in my car, the car came before the dog, so my boy lays down on the back seat when he has to go somewhere. I know many people disagree with it but I don't see anyone volunteering to buy me an SUV <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I'd take food, lotsa water, collar, leash, bones, toys, a spare water & food bowl, a pack of hotdogs, poop bags, paper towels, and depending on the likelyhood of your dog getting wet - towels, then stop the car every 60-120 minutes to give myself a break and let him stretch his legs.
Jason is absolutely correct here. Your dog stands a much better chance of surviving a car crash in a crate than loose in a car. It's also safer for you as the driver, as it decreases the chance that you'll be distracted at some critical moment by a loose dog in your car doing something doglike...
uhmm thank you for your advise. But the question is if I am not able to get the CRATE into my CAR, what are the alternatives? Someone will be in the car. Should I ask my friend to sit in the back for puppy's sake?
