Hi all, I took my 4 month old gsd to the park tonight to play fetch. Everything was fine until my girlfriend had to walk back to the car to get something. As soon as she started walking, my pup went insane. She barked incessantly and wanted desperately to run towards her. This is the second time that this has happened and I don't know what to think of it. I have no control whatsoever when this happens and it worries me. I must admit that she does this too when I walk away in public but I figured that it's normal because I'm her alpha and all. My question is is she just barking because she sees my girlfriend as her playtoy and is just being possessive over her? or is she barking because she sees her as the alpha in which case I would be really worried. My pup only sees her 2 or 3 times a week so I really doubt that my girlfriend could establish any kind of status. Also, should I be correcting her for such behavior? Thanks very much for your input.
