My GSD puppy is now 9 weeks old and only one ear is up. The other one is still flopping and shows no signs to move up. My wife tells me not to panic but I do. My question is: taping or waiting??
At 9 weeks I would not worry. If the ears are not up by around 16 weeks then I personally would tape. Most GS ears stand on their own, but there are always exceptions and if you wait to long it will be too late. The ears may stand then drop during teething this is normal.
It worries me because only one ear is down and the other one is ok. If both would look alike I may wouldn't be so concerned.
By the way I read in previous threads that Ed wrote an aricle about ears. Can somebody tell me where I can find it or give me a link? I appreciate your input. Thanks.
my pup's ears didn't become fully erect until 13-14 wks. One ear was floopy while the other one stood firm. I don't think you have anything to worry about, if you have Ed's 8 wks to 8 months dvd, his pups shown were at 11 wks and had both ears floppy still. You should be worried when they are still very floppy at 16 wks.

Ha, just wait...they won't look even for weeks. At one point one or the other will look like it is super-glued to the top of their forehead and/or the tips will look attached.
All perfectly normal. Take plenty of pictures, I bought a digital camera to keep up with my pups ears.
My pups came up somewhere between 14-16 weeks and stayed up through teething, but I was warned that they would probably come back down.
