I have just recently brought my dog back from a friend that was training him when I took him to a local trainer here where I live to help me the dog showed very little interest in the protection work his OB is down pat. Now, I know he will do the protection, and he does it well b/c I seen him just recently compete and he placed 3rd I believe but I bring him Back here to my home and he just acts non interested in the sleeve nor will he keep a tug when he would never let go before. So am I maybe doing something wrong or is he just distracted by the new surroundings I guess I should mention that we are in a different homw than when we sent him to my friends for training.
Brad - buy some training DVD's and study the art of dog training. Then take the dog through the steps yourself. When I buy a new trained dog I assume he knows nothing - I run the dog through the training myself. The dog may know some of the things I show him but he still learns to work for me. What you need to learn is beyond the scope of the web board.
Thanks for the advice Ed I have bought the Building Drive focus and grip video as well as preparing your dog for the helper and I am wathcing them man the prepatring your dog for the helper is way long have not made it through it all the way yet but I am doing as you said and it is working wonderfully I have signed up for an Ivan Balabanov seminar coming up in October. My main thing is now is to train myself and learn to comunicate better with the dogs.
