Here's my OPINION (sans specific research): Raw bacon is raw pork, but it is generally cured (if you're talking regular grocery store bacon), which means preserved with salt. It's often smoked, too, for flavor. Commercially cured bacon usually contains sodium nitrite, a known carcinogen, but one which is at its most potent when the bacon is fried.
Trichinosis aside (because nowadays most --- but not all -- infestations in the US of the parasite called the trichina worm are attributed to wild boar, wild bear, etc.), bacon is mostly pork fat, and curing it means adding a lot of salt and, usually, questionable chemicals.
SO...........yumminess aside, and addressed purely from a health standpoint............bacon is not a good choice, raw or cooked.
Just MHO.
I don't think I will ever eat bacon again! Thanks inadvance for helping me with my weight loss.

I read something recently that among vegetarians who have one meat item they are not able to give up completely, bacon tops the list BY FAR. There is no close second!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I had a dog (died in November) who would sit and smile the whole time bacon for baked beans was cooking. The first sniff and her lazy old head would pop up and she'd start to smile, and she'd sit there with a tongue-lolling grin on her face for the whole time the smell was in the air. Of course she knew she would get a bite when it was done, but just the smell seemed to make her SO HAPPY......
