I am currently neutralizing my 15 week old pup (which I plan on competing in Schutzhund) to people. No stranger has ever pet him nor has he ever played with a strange dog. While walking him he pulls (not terribly hard) and stares at people and dogs passing us. When I see people approaching I call him off to the side and do eye contact, tracking and obedience exercises. They do distract him to a point, but he will still turn around and take quick glimpses at the people passing us. Let me also mention that if I do stop and talk to someone he shows very little interest in the person and will lay down by my feet.
My question is am I asking him to much to be completely neutral at 15 weeks? With my methods of distracting I am trying to show him that I am much more interesting than strangers...do you think this is the proper way of doing it or is there a more effective way?
