why perpetuate, AND THEY WON THE DOUBLE PRIZE.!!! They one the funniest dog and the champon hsip round or whatever... They get paid to have a dog that is not raised and trained correctly.
Maybe that is why there are so many breed bans. Its seems people don't like bad dogs but when its humorous and harmful to itself, its funny? I don't get it....
Train him in a family environment like " grab the remote, get the paper, get my shoes, play dead or something. Not this crap....
I'm sorry but I couldn't stop laughing when I watched that video. I don't think they trained the dog to do that, but they surely didn't stop it either.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's right, but I found it pretty funny.
You know that dog is possesive about that bone and you could hear kids in the background, we all know what happens next.
This looks more like uncontrolled compulsive behavior to me. I will say that there are other handler errors in the video, namely allowing a dog to have such items on the furniture. There are probably contributing factors, but this looks like a genetic problem.
I have seen other similar videos, including one of a doberman exhibiting the same behavior when eating. These dogs are fractured in the mind, and don't recognize the offending appendage (in this case, hind foot) as being their own.
You might be able to walk right up to him and take it away, being a human. I still wouldn't have the mongrel in my house.

I couldn't view it, but I think I've seen it before. Was it the video of the dog attacking his back leg while on the couch eating a bone?
Personally I find it very disturbing - something is definately not right with this dog. I mean, a dog that goes to scratch himself and then attacks the leg that he's scratching with (and apparently doesn't realize that it's his own leg) simply because he's eating SCREAMS instability to me. This dog has probably undergone a LOT of tormenting while eating.
It's sad, really.

I use to watch the show but I quit. I got tired of watching stressed/unstable animals being shown for entertainment, geez, why don't I go get some vids of my crazy aunt and see if I can cash out on that <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />
same with "planet's funniests animal videos" on animal planet... why is a cat that is having grand mal seizures and biting it's toungue funny? oh yeah! because it looks funny- until you find out that it's about two seconds from brain damage or death. do they not have people who really know about animals regulating the videos?
