Romel is beautiful dog, don't think he is a year yet, I know they got him from a very reputable breeder, but all the pictures of their dogs, most seem to be silver and black looks like their backs slope down (probably not describing this well)....is there a purpose for this trait, like a big barrell chest facilitates fast sprinting? I was just wondering.......

Typically the dogs whose backs slope down are American dogs. There is no purpose for this other than (for whatever reason) that's what the AKC likes to see.

Kristen, there is a very good reason why the dogs are bred that way. The steeper the croup, the more tucked under the pelvis, the prettier and smoother the trot around the showring.
Do I agree with it? Heck no! Man-made structural poopage, IMO (I did not want to use the 's' word) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I thought they were German dogs. My pup's parents are from germany at least that is what the breeder's website says( I don't think he will say it wrongly) though the parents do not slop down that much he does. Well he is only 5.5 months, so I can't be for sure. I don't know to what extend the slope should be...
Or maybe I am just talking...who knows <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Does it look that way all the time or just when he's standing a certain way? Sometimes even dogs without a slope can look like they have one if they stand a certain way.
