What would you do differently in raising a working pup versus a pet pup, and is there anything that would make the other mutually exclusive.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with Remi yet, but I don't want to rule out him being a working dog -- I also don't want to create problems for myself in raising a working pup in a pet family.
Any theory differences would be appreciated.
I've never raised a working pup, and I've never participated in ScH (yet) or any other kind of dog sport (other than obedience). Am I kidding myself thinking that I may want to get into ScH with Remi?

Did you notice this thread on the "active topics" right near your own post? "Schutzhund dogs/ working dogs as in house pets"
You can raise a working dog in the home but there are some upbringing differences. The DVD Ed sells "Raising a working puppy" is very good and goes over it well.
Thanks guys...(and gal). I guess I'll grab that DVD.
But, I haven't really had to teach Remi too many manners, he just seems to have them. He doesn't jump up, doesn't mouth me or the kids, and loves the cats and doesn't really chase them unless they are outside.
