So I was just watching a show on Animal Planet called "A Wolf Within" - some british lady talking about all dogs being descended from Wolves and describing pack behavior & such. She made a statement about how dogs that are "seeking affection" from their handlers actually having alot of fear in them and are compelled to show their submission to their handler by putting hears back, lowering hind quarters, exposing their belly etc. This seemed odd to me - I don't like to think that my dog is excited to see me and play with me because he's scared of me!?
Did anyone else see this show? She said alot of things that just seemed odd to me. Any comments? In fact, its still on Animal Planet right now until 7pm EST if anyone else wants to go take a look.
watching it with you right now, and it appears to be a lot of supposition and guesses. Man may have worked with wolves to hunt larger animals etc.

I wish I could send you video of my dog. When she wants affection and I ignore her, she does that - a whole little routine complete with quivering and the "I'm such a bad dog" eye rolling. Then again, we've already established that my dog is far from normal, and she tends to have days when she's abnormally submissive.
If it is Jan Fennell, her work in dogs began with some problem rescue dogs too, maybe giving a bias?
I have to go out so I can't finish watching it - but the lady narrating this show is annoying me anyway
The photos I found online of Jan Fannell show a dark curly haired lady - the lady on this documentary is blonde, late 40's early 50's and talks about everything like she is 100% certain she's right
