I am training a family members dog. Other than teaching them how to live with their dog and how to give correction ect. Is there any thing I can do with the dog while I am training.
Make sure your family knows it's "Sit!" or "Down!" and not "Sit sit sitsitsit siiiiiiiiit" or "doooooooooown down please, down! Dooooown." *rolls eyes*
Make sure as well that they do not tolerate any begging whatsoever.. that creates so many problems (a family member's dog I've worked with has been allowed to slack in training and now takes food right from their plates!). Even if the dog just sits in front of them while they eat and stares.. make sure they shoo the dog off or better yet, teach it to hold a down-stay during meals!
Just look over the OB articles in this site. Pretty much all the advice in those articles would be beneficial!
thanks for the info I am just worried about the dog bonding issue and than it not responding to the real owners. That was good info I will check the ob forums some more.
