any seminars coming up I don't see any new post to this seminar forum. Also how much are the seminars. usually. thanks I would like to attend one. Also do I have to bring a dog or can I come and just learn.
I should add that someone on the board is trying to get Mr. Flinks for a seminar. I have gone to seminars without a dog. I found that while it sucked not to be able to work a dog, I also was able to concentrate a bit better. I didn't have to think about what exercise I was going to work my dog in ect, ect. So it worked out really good for me. plus it was a lot cheaper!
I think that if someone is a raw beginner, they can learn a lot witout having a dog with them. But going to a seminar with your dog helps to work on specific goals for that dog, which can be *very* helpful.
I'm working on having Bernhard Flinks back for a seminar, the cost was $300 for five days. And I think we had a great seminar!
The Live Oaks seminar cost is $995 for five days, so there you have the price range of what seminars cost.
The Live Oak seminar last year was great. It had a good group of people, great trainers, etc. When is there going to be a Flinks seminar? And will it be in Florida?
Will
If I am able to attend any of the upcoming seminars I will only be able to do so on the weekends, are there any price breaks for attending two or three days? Or is it better for me to wait and attend a full seminar. I am new to most of this and have never attended any seminars, any and all info that you can share to help me gain the most from my experience is greatly appreciated.
P.S. I hope my grammer and spellin was good Y'all !!!!!

Will, how is the Flinks seminar structured? I know the live oaks' seminar will have tons of tracking, multiple sessions of guard work & obedience every day (thanks to the cool weather), and they will have experienced and knowledgeable helpers. I'll be working some dogs tomorrow morning with him and I'll ask to see exactly who the guest trainers and helpers are, if anyone is interested. I also know that Ivan Balabanov will be having a four day protection/obedience seminar in Novemeber at his place in Plant City, FL at $100 per day & a helper seminar in December. More info is on his web site
Greg,
The last time I hosted Bernhard for a seminar, we basically started at about 9AM and worked until it was dark ( having an hour for a lunch break ). Bernhard likes to work on one phase per day with the exception of tracking. The tracking sessions were split up between early AM and afternoon sessions which worked out well.
So there was about 10 hours of field time per day devoted to training. Every dog handler team was worked to the point of all of us being tired, but Bernhard kept going and going like a little energizer bunny...
We were lucky in that he brought Alex Beyer along with him as a helper - I consider Alex to be one of the best helpers in the world, bar none.
Plus our club has one of the better decoy's in this country as a member.
Terry,
The individual day price will be $75 per day if you bring a dog.
