As I've said before I live in Europe and it's not so easy to get natural kibble or canned food over here. I'm too paranoid to do BARF. I just know I will be in agony every day wondering what my puppy/dog may or may not come down with because of it.

But I'm not posting to ask opinions of BARF. So please.. no jumping all over me and asking why I'm not a better dog owner or something. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I tried all the big commercial dog foods before I knew how bad they were. My puppy was having none of it. Royal Canine (is this in the US? Its like Eukanuba over here), Eukanuba, etc. In the end, she was having so much trouble putting on weight I started buying Science Diet just because she would eat it without problem.

Man, what a rip off that food is over here..

Anyway..

Today I accidentally found Eagle Pack. I bought a few cans and a few trial bags. It actually smells good.. my puppy was going nuts from the minute I opened it. My cat even started crawling around at my feet just from the smell.. no kidding..

Puppy loved it. And I gave her mostly kibble even - she wouldnt even eat Science Diet kibble.. all had to be canned..

And then I also just found (only by internet) this Nutro stuff and I saw someone posted about it recently.

Any personal experience with either??

For a while, we fed the Eagle Pack Power Formula. Lots of protein and fat in it. Dogs had nice coats, lots of energy, and generally did well on it. However, it wasn't available locally here and we had to have it shipped to us (read: it got really expensive)...so we went back to raw.

Yeah, Im really surprised its over here. But this country has probably as many dogs as people (you think Im kidding... ) and they are treated very well. So I guess it makes sense..

This stuff is comparable in price to the commercial ones - and is actually cheaper. I was surprised by that too..

Oh, and I forgot to say in my last post that even if you don't use Nutro, this is a great opportunity to get the coupon, get the free bag, and donate it to a shelter or rescue group, or to someone else that may need it.

Eagle Pack says that the only differences between the Natural and Holistic formulas is that the Natural formula doesn't contain all the fruits/vegetables that the Holistic type does and the Natural contains a 'little bit of wheat.'

We have our dogs on the Natural now and it's been really good for them, after trying a few other brands including Nutro and Wellness.
