Well - they claim a lot of benefits that they have no way on earth of proving. And if those benefits could be proven, it would be used by the veterinary community.
Which it's not, except in the holistic fringe area.
Working on the theory that they use, human women in girdles should be happy........they're not, take my word for it.
I should start my own product called "The Jim Jones anxiety drink." The kit will contain two pre-filled sippy cups with Jim's favorite Kool-Aid. The ad can state cool things like, "No more shallow gene pools, cut down the one branch family tree! All this and more. You and your dog will enjoy deep relaxation as you gently visit La-La land. No tickets needed, we will send you there as an added bonus! Order Now! Availability is limited!
There's a basic theory that compression is soothing. I have used compression wraps once and noted the dog being more calm, but not enough that I continued using it or enough to consider purchasing a product like this jacket.
I'm interested to see if there has been a case where the wrap or jacket actually worked, if these cases are few and far between, and if there is scientific evidence to support the claims made by this particular manufacturer. (I'm guessing there is not any.)

Will, thank you for that spot-on reply. You are right, of course- if this is such a great idea, where is the scientific/veterinary endorsement? Anne, Steven, thanks to you as well for your thoughts.
Jeff, you are WICKED.
This vest was the topic of conversation on another board I visit. It just struck me as the sort of thing that, in a few weeks, would be taking up space on the basement shelf along side the Jane Fonda workout video and Magic 8 ball. Fad alert, anyone?
I'm not exactly new age- don't tell that to my Tarot deck- but I can sympathize with owners of dogs who don't "do" thunder or fireworks very well. I also get ticked when I see a miraculous cure-all product like this- someone, somewhere is helping uninformed but well meaning pet owners part with their well earned cash.
Hey, will this work on my husband? Ummmmm. Me thinks there would be a large female market out there for one of these little straight jackets for men. Use them during training, huh? Ummmmmm.

When my friends 5 year old stands on my feet after walking around all day my feet feel better
Temple Grandin (who is autistic) touched on this in her book: Animals in Translation. After she saw cattle going through a 'squeeze chute'(a pen which closed in the cattle to hold them for shots and calmed them) she built one for herself and swore by it.
I don't think wrapping tight-fitting clothing would have the same effect though, different feeling, different sensation. yeah.....girdles suck.
