Has anyone else recently receiving pet food email Spam?
I just started receiving emails from a no-name pet food company, with much of their website "under construction".
Not a good sign....
I hate Spam!

Something to consider, Will...
I have a separate (free) email account that I use for all internet orders and address requests so the spam goes there and doesn't clog my daily account. Once they come in and I tag them the first time as Spam, they are automatically recognized and tagged whenever they are received again. After that, I don't have to deal with them anymore. It's been heavenly!

Kate, I have an anti-Spam program ( along with two pop-up blockers, two anti-virus programs and a great firewall ) and I did the same thing with entering their address into my anti-Spam program.
But I think that their company is going to not be one that I'll ever use with the way that they start their "business". Maybe they'll find out that bad publicity is worse than no publicity.

I switched to using GMail by Google - has POP3 access so I can use it from my cell or Outlook Express (altho the GMail interface is so nice i don't use outlook anymore), and has an awesome built in spam blocker that does better than the one I paid $50 for. I forward all my regular email addresses to GMail n now I get maybe 1 or 2 spams a week that get thru the filter
Unfortunately spammers don't understand that spam annoys everyone - instead they go with the statistics from the people that are paid to spam or sell mailing lists that say something like "0.5% of spam results in a sale, buy 500,000 email addresses for $750 and get 2500 sales!!". To them the possibility of 2500 sales from 500,000 annoyed people is better than 100,000 people respecting the brand name.
Replying back with threats n such often just confirms to them that your email address was valid and was read by a person.
I use antispam@zee28.com for everything I sign up for, when that address starts to get too much spam, I delete the email address n create a new email address to forward to gmail - my old over-spammed one was public@zee28.com.

YES! I use GMAIL too. It is one of the best email providers I have ever seen. It is 100% free and comes with 2.4 gigs of space. It is invite only. If any one here would like to try this please email me! I think you all will be impressed.
Email me at apbtowner@gmail.com
As far as the dog food spam. I have got one in the past week or so. I did not even think about it twice once I deleated it.

I recieved some nice arrogant emails from the dog food spam maker in reply to my complaint about the unasked for advertisement email that I recieved...you know, spam.
I'm guessing this was a group email since Angela was mentioned also.
"Hello Angela,and Willy
You made a comment about the database and me spamming ? The Webring you refer to is mine? International Working Dog Ring and its been this way for nearly 5 years now, so Ive pulled nothing off of anything. People have email me from that site, nit I them! Thanks!
Will Rambeau,
I sent you one email and it was a very serious offer and legit, so I wasn't
spamming you. As per your comments, go for it,as then you are putting my
name down, but for no reason.I will also send you the email I sent "Ed" himself
about advertising with him or a link on his page, again legit! Ask him why dont you?
And for a noname dogfood we are trying to establish that. We have a license through the FTC ,and have been AFFCO approved,do you even know the requirments that it takes to be so? You might want to read for educate yourself on that.
All of a sudden your Autonomous judgement allows your to say who is right, or wrong? You speak as if you are the almighty G-d himself. As I see it you
spread what you will,Im sure youll give my partner and I great reasoning to further anything. There was no assualt on you about anything.but act as the child you seem to be.
I have a better idea Willy Boy!
Jerry Hicklen
Very professional reply, Jerry - I'm sure you'll go far! *snicker*

I thought that sending out unsolicited E-mails was by definition spam. Am I wrong?

Here is what I sent him trying to explain:
"Actually, just to clarify - my problem with you is that you sent me an advertisement to my email. That's Spam, plain and simple no matter how you spin it. I didn't ask for any contact with you, but you chose to invade my privacy with un-requested advertisement. That's wrong, and I chose to make people aware of your business ethics for doing so.
Most studies show that the majority of American's don't like Spam. It was a poor decision on your part.
As far as Leerburg.com, what Mr. Frawley decides to do is entirely his business. I am only a poster and occasional Moderator at his site, and I posted about your Spam as it was dog related and worthy of alerting people about your business tactics. The other working dog boards also did not have any positive comments about your tactics.
Maybe your dog food is the best stuff going, but that wouldn't matter to me, because I would never buy *anything* from a business that uses Spam.
Just so you know why I feel this way.

No, I think your right.
Jerry Hicklen, This isnt the dog/GSD breeder is it? I see his name on and off on the internet. Inless he happens to go by JD Hicklen at times, then he is the human rights guy.
Anyway it seems to me that he paid the wrong guy a dime to teach him some 25 cent words like FTC, or AFFCO. Then agin he may have payed 25 cents to learn Autonomous, or International Working Dog Ring.
Okay, Ill stop now.
David.
